So were you able to tune in last night? If so let me know what you thought about the movie as well as how you feel about polygamy. The movie was good. Of course it had some cliches and I wondered how Queenie kept getting out of town to meet Jordan, but I really enjoyed learning more about the original 19th wife and the ending was a twist. I won’t spoil it, but I sure didn’t expect the killer to be that person.
The Lifetime movie is based on a book by David Ebershoff called The 19th Wife: A Novel. Check out David talking about why he wrote the book and how he got inspiration from it:
You can also buy the book that started it all Wife, No. 19 by Ann Eliza Young.
My thoughts on Polygamy are varied. I know that being in America we do have religious freedom and I do understand that this shows the EXTREME version of this particular faith, but at the same time we are seeing this over and over again. It’s abuse. No matter how you wrap it up. Physical, Mental, Psychological abuse. Not necessarily the amount of wives, but like how Jordan was kicked out for touching Queenie’s arm. Basically just to get him out of the way. Or how the 14 year old girl was being forced to marry her “father”. The way that even after BeckyLyn was acquitted she went back to the compound is an example of just how brainwashed these poor women can get. I’m not saying that every Mormon or person who practices Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints practices like this. However with the ones who do they should be stopped. I’d love to know what you thought about the movie and how you feel about polygamy.
