I have been patiently…. ok not so patiently waiting to tell you about this movie. This was one of the movies I was able to see when I went to Hollywood last month. First let me start out by saying Read the Book first. I’m a stickler for that and some of the awesome fight scenes will get you amped up and ready for the movie, BUT (and this one is a big but) I think the movie was just a *smidge* better than the book. Shocking I know. The only thing it didn’t actually “say” was that each “number” must be killed in order. Number 1 dies first. Then Number 2 and so on. So you can’t go and kill number 5 or 6 before Number Four is killed. Ok ok I know I’m all excited, but you may not know what the movie is about so here is the synopsis:
D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye,” “Disturbia”) helms a suspense-thriller about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.
John (Alex Pettyfer) is an extraordinary young man, masking his true identity and passing as a typical student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed…he is Number Four.
So with a pretty stellar cast and a great story this movie delivers. I Am Number Four is perfect for the kids who are sad that Harry Potter is ending or those who are waiting for the next Transformer movie. It has action, creepy aliens, and a love story. I’m not going to give you a full length scene by scene review because I want you to go see it. I’m taking Gabriel (9) to see it this upcoming week and he has the book to read before we go.
