We arrived SUPER early at around 4am and was driving around trying to find a room for a few hours before check in. Thing was it was Spring Break for quite a few states and EVERYWHERE was sold out. I tried Disney hotels, hotels near Downtown Disney and hotels in Kissimmee and towards the end I wish I would have booked a room through Global Homes Resorts. (next time I will!) We finally ended up just going to the Grand Floridian around 6am and asking if there was anywhere we could take a shower and eat breakfast. They were very helpful! Even though they couldn’t get us into the room we were able to go to the spa (kids included) and shower, use the sauna, whirlpool, and just relax. Plus, they had shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and even mouthwash. We felt so rejuvenated and clean after our whopping 10 hour car ride. By then the sun was starting to come up and we were able to see the beautiful Grand Floridian in all it’s glory and man oh man is it a beautiful resort. Then we were lucky enough to check into our room! It was spacious, but not as spacious as the Polynesian hotel. I loved the cute “Hidden Mickey Lamp” as the kids called it.
We got everything settled then hit Magic Kingdom for a bit. Then we took a quick nap and it was time for the first event! A Disney Weddings Soiree! Coming from Tennessee to Florida was a weather shock! We left super cold in the 40s to a beautiful sun shiny 80! Every time we hit the Florida mark I start smiling as soon as I see my first Palm Tree! One day I will convince Brian that we need to move to Orland, but for now I’ll be ok with visiting twice a year. 🙂
When we walked up the the wedding pavilion it was decked out with a full fledged candy bar! Who needs booze when you have every kind of candy you can think of at your hands. It was so pretty you almost didn’t want to touch the candy. They gave us adorable bride or groom Mickey Ears to wear as well. As usual, Disney knows how to treat it’s guests.
Then we walked through a little area that was filled with amazing wedding favors and YUMMY wedding cakes! It’s my dream to one day re-new my vows at Disney and I decided I want one of these cakes too. They are just beautiful. My favorite is the castle cake. I wish I found out what the castle was made of. It almost looked like a ice cream cone texture. Take a look at these beautiful cakes:
Disney goes all out for all the wedding favors, flowers, and place settings. You could truly feel like a princess with a Disney Wedding.
And what is a princess without her gown? Alfred Angelo’s top designer Michael Shettel told us about different inspirations for all the Disney Princess Wedding Gowns and even showed us the NEW beautiful Cinderella dress. I wasn’t able to get a great pic, but it truly is beautiful. Make sure to check out Disney Bridal website for more information on all the wedding dresses!
I did grab a great shot of the Snow White dress:
Capturing Snow White’s gentle grace and beauty, and inspired by nature, this net-over-satin ball gown features a lace bodice of organza apple blossoms with shimmering rhinestone and crystal centers and a skirt with scattered blossom detail. A lovely satin sash and back bow make a graceful finish.
Honoring Tiana’s independence and joie de vivre, this one-shoulder taffeta ball gown features dramatic ruched pick-ups, inspired by the grace of the water lily. The asymmetric draped bodice is embellished with beautiful beaded flowers, metallic embroidery and pearl accents.
Then who came out? None other than David Tutera himself! The wonderful host and wedding planner from My Fair Wedding came out and told us a little about weddings and even gave us a sneak peak of his first episode this new season! A boy in Kansas told the Make a Wish Foundation that his wish would be for David to come out and do a wedding for his mom! So not only is he granting such an awesome wish, but he’s getting the whole town involved. He is SUCH a nice guy. I posted earlier today about Isabella getting to meet him. She’s one of his biggest fans! Make sure to check out that pic on my Wordless Wednesday post.
Than an AMZING thing happened. A couple we had saw earlier that shared their memories of their wedding day at Disney renewed their vows right there and then! It was full of bridesmaids and groomsmen dancing and a heartfel vow renewal. I was too busy crying like a baby to grab any pics, but it was truly magical. Afterward, we went to the beach for dinner and a kids party with amazing sand castle sculptures that even the kids got to get their feet a little sandy and help out with.
Then we headed over to Magic Kingdom again to ride a few more rides. It was a wonderful first day in our home away from home and I was so happy to meet up and see some of my fellow bloggers. It was like a family reunion!
