I saw The Avengers in NYC last Saturday at the closing night screening of the Tribeca Film Festival. One reason I enjoy seeing these types of films at premieres and screenings is because the entire audience is amped up. They get into the movie and whoop and holler with the rest of us. There will be spontaneous bouts of clapping and yelling throughout the entire film which brings me in even more.
Now onto Marvel’s The Avengers. I was REALLY and I mean REALLY excited for this film. I’m a bit of a fangirl, but not too extremes. I still get tripped up over who is in Marvel vs. DC, but I know the basics and have watched all the movies. Even some of the animated ones with the kiddos. So I had a general idea of what I was expecting. Marvel knocked my expectations WAY outta the park. To but it bluntly this was a homerun. It had every element of the superhero aspect. The tortured guys, the action, the angst, the action, the super-mega villian, and did I mention the action? Yeah it was there too.
The Avengers is a film for everyone. They really bring the family element together. When they are first thrown together you get a real dysfunctional family feel. They fight. Makeup. Fight some more. Rebel. Then finally come together and do the right thing. Which is something ALL families can relate too. There is a scene for everyone in the family as well. The strong female, The jealous brother, etc. You get where I’m going with this. At this point your thinking this film must kinda go all over the place. Yes in ways, but at the same time the master of it all Director Joss Whedon keeps the narrative flowing and together.
Another thing that Joss Whedon brings to the film is the comedy. Don’t scratch your heads. Yes an action superhero film can be funny. Not just a little bit of funny either. I’m talking about each character has a few good one liners that actually make you laugh out loud. That surprised me. Bottom line. The Avengers is a movie for everyone. So round up the kiddos and even grandma and grandpa. They’ll all get into it. PS without giving a lot away I’d say I’m an even bigger fan of The Hulk now. Let me know what you thought about it if you’ve already seen it! The Avengers hits theaters today! Twwet everyone you know using hashtag #Avengers
