Cars Land opened over at Disneyland’s California Adventure last month and the HOT new ride is Radiator Spring Racers. Concept Writer and Senior Director, Walt Disney Imagineering, Kevin Rafferty said it best:
“Radiator Springs Racers is going to be one of the greatest attractions Disney has ever designed and built. A great attraction takes you somewhere, it takes you to another place, and that’s what Radiator Springs Racers does.”
The thing about Disney rides is they take you inside the story. Even standing in queue your immersed into the “land” whether it’s a fictional place like “Tomorrowland” or like in Cars Land taking you down Route 66. When you first see Radiator Spring Racers you see the beautiful rocks of Ornament Valley that put you right there in the moment. Ornament Valley is the setting for Radiator Springs Racers, a twisting turning, high-speed adventure through the town of Radiator Springs.
“Radiator Springs Racers, shown above during testing, is a twisting turning, high-speed adventure through Ornament Valley and the town of Radiator Springs.”
If you’ve been on Test Track in Disneyworld then you kinda get an idea of what Radiator Spring Racers is about. They set you up in a familiar car from the movie. It seats 6 people. Then you slowly go through the scenic area and experience the full view of Ornament Valley. Then you are transported to Radiator Springs. While in Radiator Springs you see some of the best animatronics Disney has ever made. All your favorite characters from the movie wait for you from Doc Hudson, Red, Sarge, Fillmore, Lightning McQueen, and more. Then it’s time to RACE!!! You’ll be up against another car for a fun and friendly race to the finish line! Hills, turns, and fun await you. The race catches your stomach a few times to be just enough fun, but not too rough. As you can see from the picture it was one of my favorite rides.
The day we were at the park was opening week and the regular line was over 4 hours long! So you want to make sure you get to the park early and grab a fast pass if you can.
