Academy Award®–nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”) brings enchantment to the screen with “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” It’s the inspiring, magical story of a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim—and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.
I’m When I saw the first trailer I was interested, but still not convinced. I just couldn’t wrap my head around a kid growing from the garden who had magical leaves. I should have known. This is a DISNEY film. Disney does magical in a way that no other studio can pull off. The first time I saw this film it was the last movie on the last day of an event in NYC. All the bloggers including myself started bawling about 5 minutes in. This is a film about having kids….and not having kids The struggles that many couples go through. They can’t have a kid naturally and try to explore options. Some give up. The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a story where the Greens are given this magical boy Timothy.
I won’t give away the plot as usual, but he is put in their lives as a source of inspiration. For the Greens and everyone that Tomothy comes in contact. Which isn’t that what kids do? Change the very lives of everyone around them. This film tugs at your heart strings, makes you laugh, and makes you fall in love with your children all over again. I cam home from that trip and for the next 2 days just cuddled in the bed with Gabriel and Isabella and watched any and every movie they wanted to. We ate junk food and just spent time together. Yes occasionally I would tear up and they would ask what’s wrong and I would simply say….”I love you. Your magical and I’m being sappy.”
So head out with your loved ones starting TOMORROW and check out The Odd Life of Timothy Green, but remember to bring tissues and let me know how you liked it! Want more #TimothyGreen goodness? Follow them on facebook twitter and check out The Odd Life website! Timothy Green even is on Pinterest!
