Wreck It Ralph Review: The Ultimate Gamer Family Movie

HELP! I’m stuck in the game! Ok not really, but you can’t tell me that’s a fun photo. If your headed to see Wreck It Ralph in the next few days make sure to look around your local theater for fun photo opportunities. We saw several at the screening. Speaking of, the husband and I went last week to a screening to see Wreck It Ralph in 3D. I could only take 1 person with me so after much consideration I took the biggest kid in the family….my husband. Now on to the movie!

The film busts on to the soon in a typical arcade. You see kids lying up quarters on the screen of games to call “next” and it immediately gives you a nostalgic feeling. You meet Ralph who’s attending a Bad Guys Anonymous meeting and learn that even though he’s technically the bad guy in his game he doesn’t feel like a “bad guy”. This is where the adventure begins! You see Ralph game jumping through different games to achieve a medal so he can take it back to his game and prove once and for all that even though he may be the bad guy he is a good guy underneath. Mayhem, fun, and a quirky little glitch in the game Sugar Rush by the name of Vanellope thwart Ralph and things go awry. You’ll have to go see the movie and see if Ralph succeeds in his mission, but I can tell you that you and the kiddos will love this movie.

In my opinion a good family film involves jokes both for adults and the kids, a great story, and of course an underlining meaning. I can’t wait till this hits the theaters so I can take the kids. It will be my 3rd time seeing the film and I have yet to tire of it. In each game world they re-create some of your favorite game styles. From 8 bit, to first person shooter, to a candy filled racing game. It’s fun for all ages! Plus, it’s funny! Sarah Silverman and John C. Reilly bring their A game to both Vanellope and Ralph. You’ll have a wonderful family night at the movies!
