Sometimes life is boring……Other times it’s so exciting that you really wonder if it’s life, or a dream your having. Jeana and I were in the midst of planning our first Official Bloggers Go Girlfriend Getaway to Phoenix Arizona. As we were planning we realized it would be easier for us two to come out a couple of days earlier since we were going to be on that side of the country. Then she happened to say, Hey check out Grand Canyon Helicopter and Ground Tour From Phoenix over at Viator Travel. Immediately I squealed and said DUH Let’s Do It!!!
So we got up at the crack of down and met our driver Robert and settled in for our long 250 mile road through Arizona on our nice Detours of AZ bus. As you all know I’m just a girl from a small town in Tennessee so I was pretty excited to see the famous red rocks of Sedona as well as the Grand Canyon itself. Let me say Pictures do NOT do this scenery justice. They sky was blue, the rocks were many colors of red, and I was with one of my best friends.
The town of Sedona was beautiful. It was a snapshot of the old west with some fun touristy stuff thrown in. If your looking for some awesome jewelry make sure to stop here. I couldn’t count how many awesome shops we went in. That’s also, where I grabbed the photo of the cars and of this beautiful mural.
The scenery was so beautiful that I felt like we were in a movie. I expected the drive to be long and monotonous, but our driver was really funny and every once in awhile we would stop for a fun photo opp or 3. What’s a travel adventure without a jumping picture?
Then it was time to get serious. This was my first time in a helicopter. We were going UP in a helicopter…….OVER the Grand Canyon. I can be adventurous most of the time. Hey, I’ve been in a ton of airplanes. I’ve even ridden in a bi-plane before. It can’t be that much different right?
Once you go over all the instructions and text your husband and kids and I love you in case text your ready to go up in the air with Maverick Helicopters. It was a little bumpier than I initially thought it would be, but nothing bad. We went up, up, and away! Over lots of trees, just taking it all in. Then he told us to get ready. We literally went from going over trees to up and down into the Grand Canyon. I have no words for the emotions I felt. Wonder, awe, amazement, etc. I could not believe my eyes. It was breathtaking.
After the helicopter tour we drove around the rim to check out more scenic photo opps as well as a few authentic shops to the area. Oh! In case you are wondering lunch was provided. These sandwiches were HUGE!! This was only half, but let me tell you it was extremely good and lots better than you would normally find on a tour.
As you can tell we had the absolute time of our life. I can cross yet one more thing off my bucket list. I really think that if your going to go see the Gran Canyon you should go all out and do the helicopter tour. It’s really worth it. Here’s a bit more info:
