Iron Man 3 takes place after the events of The Avengers and our main man isn’t doing so well. I mean if I was in a fight with some aliens, almost died, and fell back to Earth through a Worm Hole I would be a little upset as well. So that’s where Tony Stark is. Trying to deal with how he’s feeling and of course Tony being his own worst enemy it’s not working out so well. He’s not sleeping. He’s fighting with Pepper. He’s not sleeping.
Then he Mandarin comes in. A flat out evil terrorist who wants to teach us Americans a lesson. There are a few bombing and during one of them Happy gets hurts. It gives Tony focus and he proceeds to call out The Mandarin using maybe not so good judgement he even gives out his home address. He goes home not only to find Pepper up in arms, but an old girlfriend Maya waiting for him. The the stuff really hits the fan. Helicopters show up and blow up everything. The house, the cars, and even the suits. Tony has enough mind to get the suit to go to Pepper and tell her to get Maya out. We slowly see Tony lose everything.
The second half of the film has him waking up in a snowy Tennessee (GO TN!) town with nothing but the non working Iron Man suit and himself. He befriends Harley a young REALLY smart young man in his own right and begins his journey back to himself. His struggle has always been he’s just a man in the suit. As Iron Man he can do anything, save anyone, but as Tony he’s just a man. The time he spends with Harley shows him that the Man he is CREATED Iron Man. He can CREATE. He’s a GENIUS. Now it’s time to get his emotional baggage under control take down down the Mandarin and make sure Pepper is safe.
I won’t go much more into the plot of the film because hey you need to go see this on the big screen IN 3D. It’s the start of the summer blockbusters for sure. A good story, insanely funny (couldn’t believe how much I laughed), and of course full of adventure. I have 2 phrases for you to watch out for: “Barrel Of Monkeys” and “Take them to Church”. When you hear those 2 phrases just no some craziness is about to go down.
As far as ages go…I’ll be taking my 8 and 11 year old and I think it will be fine for them. I also, think we will have some real world conversations from the movie and of course the, “MOM that was EPIC!”
Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968
