Miley Cyrus is EVERYWHERE lately and the haters are out in full effect. I’m a mom, but I also remember being young. My hair was even SHORTER than Miley’s and I wore anything that was a crop top that showed off my butterfly tramp stamp. I was a rave girl. If facebook was around when I was that age or I had TMZ and the papas following me 24/7 documenting my every action….well let’s just say I would have had my own haters and probably a few stints in jail. If you actually think about it, this girl is pretty smart. She stopped a few years after all the Hannah Montana hype and found out who she was. Now she comes back with a BANG. Music videos that are breaking records, performances that have offended, elevating twerking to a household topic. All the while, she’s watching her bank account grow and grow. Go Miley!
Yes, I’m a mom. My 9 year old daughter has heard some of Miley’s new songs and has seen We Can’t Stop. She knows the difference between that and reality. I’m her parent and instill the values in her. I’m not worried that she’s going to sneak out of the house to go twerking on the weekend. She’s 9. She loves One Direction more anyways Bottom line, is think about Madonna (Not A Virgin), Britney Spears Kissing Madonna at the VMA’s (Shock), Janet Jackson’s Wardrobe Malfunction, anything Lady Gaga does. Miley’s not the first to shock and awe and she won’t be the last so go on about your own business. I’ll be over here waving my foam finger in the air, singing, and twerking from my computer chair.
