I’ve talked numerous times about how substance abuse has affected both myself and loved ones in my life. That’s why I support Reset Reality.
Reset Reality is public health initiative designed to spread awareness and understanding about the prevalence, science and treatment of opioid prescription painkiller addiction in the United States. It encourages those living with prescription painkiller addiction to step back, reflect and hit the ?reset? button by working with a healthcare professional to work towards creating a new reality.
After all, we all deserve a second chance to “reset the rarity” in our lives before it’s too late. This website gives you online resource where you can find information and tools to help learn about opioid dependence, including a symptom screener and a resource to find a doctor that is certified to treat opioid prescription painkiller and/or heroin addiction. Additionally, on the site, one can share their Words of Reality or lend support with words of inspiration.
The trouble with opioid dependance is it strikes before you know it. You may think a friend or loved one is just having “bad judgement” or even just “partying too hard”. When in reality Over time prescription painkillers can alter the brain’s chemistry by resetting the brain so one begins to physically and psychologically feel they need opioid prescription painkillers just to get through the day. So what once may have been treating something painful or an actual symptom is now just your mind playing tricks on you.
Michael Sorrentino aka “The Situation” from The Jersey Shore knows all too well the trouble with changing your out look on life and getting help with substance abuse. By being on a reality show and living his life in the public eye his “partying” ways soon became too much and he developed an opioid dependance.
The unexpected can happen to anyone – and changing circumstances, an accident or life-altering event can create a new reality. Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino knows this all too well because of his struggle with opioid prescription painkillers. But now he also knows it is possible to get your life in control again.
Read his story and if you know someone who needs a reality rest please direct them to the reset reality website to give them another chance at tomorrow.
