We’ve all been there. This one threw me for a loop because I wasn’t expecting it. Gabriel walks into the room and mention how far he is into his new book. (Page 871) Person who shall not be named says “WOW! What book are you reading?” He replies, “It. It’s my first Stephen King book.” I then get the side eye and say “What?” with cries of “Oh, nothing….nothing.” In the air. I sit for a moment. I actually begun to start explaining myself and my choice of letting him read said book. THEN I got rather irritated. I really wanted to say, Hey at least my kid READS and isn’t a cry baby.” BUT I didn’t. I just killed her with kindness and said. “Yep it was my first Stephen King book I read at 12 so now he’s carrying on the tradition.”—-end scene.
So…. lady who looks down on me. I’m going to go hide under the covers with my son and read scary stories till we both have to leave the light on. That’s one of my many parenting skills I got right. 🙂
