What’s the Show About
Two-time Emmy winner Patricia Heaton stars in this warm and witty single-camera comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country in Orson, Indiana, Frankie Heck is a harried wife and mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to get her family through each day intact. Having been fired as the least successful sales woman at the town’s only surviving car dealership, Frankie re-evaluated her career path and is now working as a dental assistant. Her unflappable husband, Mike, is manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind that is raising their average – yes, most definitely average – family.
Between juggling shifts and picking up fast food dinners eaten in front of the TV, Frankie and Mike raise their kids with love, humor and solid Midwestern practicality. Axl, the oldest, is a jock slacker who eats them out of house and home and walks around the house in his boxers. But his lazy days are numbered as he prepares to enter college via a well-earned sports scholarship. Then there’s Sue, their extraordinarily ordinary daughter, who fails at just about everything she tries with great gusto. Now a junior in high school, she continues to navigate the raging waters of school life and, to Frankie and Mike’s horror, will be driving on her own since recently passing her driver’s test – on the sixth try. And last is Brick, their quirky son, who is entering middle school. He reads constantly, whispers and “whoops” to himself and unapologetically marches to the beat of his own drummer.
But through all the madness shines a loving family, and together the Hecks are putting THE MIDDLE on the map.

Being on Set
Each time your on a different set you feel different things. Being in the Heck house it was like going back in my childhood. You could tell that the prop master made this house full of love. It’s the little things that stick out. See how many things you recognize from the show:
Neil Flynn who plays Mike and Charlie McDermott who plays Axl stopped by in between filming to chat with us about the show and take a picture on the Heck couch. Both of them were super nice and MAN is Neil one super tall guy! 😉
Look who else stopped by as he was filming: Jack McBrayer who plays Dr. Ted Goodwin, but we know him at my house from 30 Rock and Wreck it Ralph. The kids loved my quick selfie I took with him:
I had only watched a couple of episode of The Middle before, but after meeting everyone and seeing how much they enjoyed their show it’s scheduled on my DVR now.
TONIGHT on The Middle
“The Walk” – After bumping into some old acquaintances on a walk around the neighborhood, Frankie and Mike realize that they are more interesting and charming with them than they are with each other and search for a way to remedy the situation. Meanwhile, Sue ends up with multiple dates to the prom because she is too nice to turn down any of the boys who asked her, and Brick enlists Axl’s aid in preparing an “outside the box” book report, on “The Middle,” WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
So make sure you tune in tonight for laughs, hijinks, and a heartwarming episode. Next week I’ll share more of being on set of The Heck House
