***Disclosure: Disclosure: I participate in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own***
Social Causes and Advocacy is important to me. It’s the little things that we don’t realize and take for granted sometimes. For instance…..breakfast. I know I personally eat breakfast at LEAST 4 mornings of the week and my kids eat more like 6 days of breakfast a week. We are truly blessed.
The first meal is the most important one of the day; however, 10% of U.S. kids in food-insecure homes aren’t guaranteed a breakfast!
It’s sad and it’s the truth which makes it even more heartbreaking. SO what can we do?
Champions for Kids makes it simple to give children in local communities the resources they need to thrive. Helping others does not have to come in large doses. Champions for Kids seeks to ignite generational change by fostering a ‘habit of giving’ among youth and parents in America. As a mother, a blogger, and just a human being I know that even if one person is helped or heard and gives action in their own community this post is worth it. My kids realize that we have it better than most. Yes, they take it for granted at times, but they will also say, “Let’s donate our old toys and clothes this weekend.”, or something similar.
SIMPLE Giving is a Champions for Kids program that makes it simple for you to help kids in your community. To ensure children can eat breakfast and stay focused in school, Champions for Kids is teaming up with Kellogg Company and Diamond Foods for a SIMPLE Giving program. You can participate by simply purchasing and donating breakfast food items at your local participating Walmart from April 21 through May 5. If your Walmart store is participating, simply purchase breakfast foods and place them in the purple donation bins at the front of the store after checkout. To see a list of participating stores, click here. All of the donations go to children in the school district where the Walmart store is located!
We went to our local WalMArt and they were setting up so we plan on going this weekend. The kids are excited that it helps “kids they know”. It’s just like the title says…SIMPLE Giving. So take this weekend and do some good for your community.
