Sometimes on press trips I get to cross things off my #bucketlist which is why I love my job so much. I was already excited about The Hundred Foot Journey when I saw the trailer, but when I learned I was going to the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Campus in La for a Cooking lesson inspired by THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY I might have been on cloud nine!!! I can cook you a good southern meal, but fancy, healthy food has always been my down fall. I’ll share the recipe next.
We took a tour of the campus and my previous work in the restaurant industry was coming out. I was ready to learn and have fun cooking!
After the tour from Chef Chanel Martinez we had a brief instructional by Chef Carlos Mulia about what we were going to make that day and then had a yummy taste test of Salad, quiche Lorraine, beef bourguinon. It was truly a #foodporn moment
Then it was cooking time with my friend Tara Salinas of Trippin With Tara. We had a blast! I may have asked a few different times how to do something, but the chefs at Le Cordon Bleu were so patient and amazing. I loved how everything was laid out for us and ready to go. The fact that we had to eat what we cooked may have been a little boost to make sure we did a good job as well. To see the full recipe for the Parisian Mumbai Salad CLICK HERE.
Every Bite Takes You Home
What made this experience unique was the melding of the movie, the story, and our own cooking. I would have never thought to try making the Parisian Mumbai Salad at home, but can’t wait to try. As soon as I used the spices from India I was immediately transported to scenes from 100 Foot Journey. I felt like I was walking the bazaar looking for them. I love how food can bring people together and hope you take a night to go check out 100 Foot Journey on a date night when it opens Friday August 8th…..Plus, why not try an Indian Restaurant after the movie. I promise the experience will be well worth it.
