GoldieBlox is more than a toy; it’s a movement. It’s about nurturing a generation of girls who are more confident, courageous, and tech-savvy. It’s about opening our girls’ minds beyond the pink aisle at the toy store. GoldieBlox is a toy company on a mission: help girls stay interested in engineering and technology past that big dropoff at age 8. How? Books and building toys! n her extensive research on how kids play, Debbie Sterling, GoldieBlox founder and CEO, found that boys tend to gravitate toward construction toys that strengthen their spatial skills, while girls tend to be more interested in stories and characters that strengthen their verbal skills.
Goldie, the star of GoldieBlox toys, is a girl inventor who goes on adventures and solves problems by building simple machines. As kids read along, they build what Goldie builds with the included toolkit, learning engineering principles as they go. Each book features additional designs as inspiration for endless building possibilities.
Our #Unbloxing Experience
This was our first time trying out Goldieblox. I let Isabella do the #unbloxing without me telling her what it was. Immediately she grabber the star glasses, read the box, and said “What’s Goldieblox?” We went through the package together and as we opened the first box called GoldieBlox and the Parade Float. Check it out:
I proceeded to start helping her and I was told. “It’s ok I can do it by myself.” So off she went reading the book and she came back with the final product. The Parade Float:
Isabella’s (8) Review:
“I really like Goldieblox. The book was easy to read and the projects are fun. Especially after you make it and can come up with your own. Even my big brother thought it was cool. My favorite was the parade float, but I want to combine both of them to make something even bigger!”
