My life is a bit hectic…..and I’ll be the first to say something it’s complete and utter chaos. Let’s be honest. My son is 13. Gabriel is super smart, outgoing, loves all things entertainment related and is growing into a fine young man. Isabella is now 11. She got an IPhone from Santa this past Christmas and ever since then it’s been birthday parties, sleepovers, etc. My lovely super supportive husband is a manager at Olive Garden with a hectic schedule, but right now is on leave recovering from knee surgery. Oh, did I mention we are currently living with my mother and father-in-law as we are saving for a house and helping them with day to day care.
That’s my at home life. Then have my blogger side which involves traveling around the world. Having crazy experiences and documenting them. Deadlines. Emails. Phone Conferences. Skype calls. Contracts….you get the picture. As part of my #bloggerlife I work with Netflix. Which I’m sure just like you it’s utilized every day in our house. We all have our favorite shows, movies, events. We stream on a daily basis. So when I heard about this new show called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt I put it on my mental radar. I LOVE Tina Fey and liked 30 Rock so I thought this might be a show for me.
From “30 Rock” executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comes this hilarious comedy series starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” “Bridesmaids”) as a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for a socialite (Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock”) in New York City. Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers and a couple of past-due library books, she takes on a world she didn’t think even existed anymore.
It’s quirky, fun, and hilarious. Give it a shot. I promise you will enjoy it.
Now let’s get back to the take away here. This woman has literally spent the past 15 years underground. She LIVES life with a vengeance. It’s heartwarming and makes you relish the small things. The kids were out of school AGAIN today. This time not due to the weather, but because of a teacher inservice day. I did my posts, caught up on social media then turned up Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson Uptown Funk as loud as it could go. The kids came out of their rooms and come upstairs and looked at me like I was crazy. Then I started dancing and yelled, “DANCE PARTY!” So we danced, we laughed, I may or may not have made my poor husband with a bad knee get up and turn in circles. For those 5 minutes we were nuts and more importantly we were a family. I was present and I’m going to be present every day no matter where I am. I want to live life as Kimmy does.
