I absolutely LOVE a good PIXAR short. Thinking back over the years to past PIXAR shorts one thing I’ve noticed is that they try to convey an emotion, happiness, sadness, laughter, love, but an emotion. LAVA does not disappoint!
Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes, “LAVA” is a musical love story that takes place over millions of years.
From Pixar Animation Studios, director James Ford Murphy and producer Andrea Warren, “LAVA” opens in theaters on June 19, 2015, in front of “Inside Out.”
Clocking in at only 7 minutes and 9 seconds LAVA is able to tell a full story. A true love story that you will be singing for days.
LAVA has a special place in my heart for when we were in San Francisco earlier this year we heard from the film makers who actually went to Hawaii to research all the different music styles to find that perfect island sound for the short. Then, Director James Murphy wowwed us all when he serenaded us with the song from the short in the middle of a theater with his Ukulele.
After, we had a fun LAVA themed reception. Both Disney/PIXAR know how to theme out a good party. Yep, Mai Tai’s were available. I might have drunk a couple. Who doesn’t like a good Mai Tai?
