Every trip to Pixar is unique. Right now everything is themed out for The Good Dinosaur and looks amazing. You can check out my PIXAR visit HERE. Now it’s time to share about our lovely campfire. It was originally going to be outside, but of course the weather was temperamental that day. So we brought our campire inside and still let had a lovely time.
Let me preface this by saying that Pete Sohn can tell a story. In fact he can tell a story so well, that your imagination is just exploding! You are laughing, his crew are laughing, it’s just amazing to see a true storyteller speak from their heart.
Now let’s go into a bit about their research trips. We all know PIXAR is amazing and the way they get those super small details is by going on research trips. The ones for The Good Dinosaur were basically in the vein of, “Hey, let’s go to the middle of nowhere and get as lost as we can.”
Pete Sohn is originally from New York and he grew up loving western films like Shane, City Slickers, etc. These were set in the Grand Tetons and were the inspiration for Clawtooth Mountains in the film.
Another thing that they focused on was the “Snake River because a lot of the our really does take place along the river it’s kind of our yellow brick road.”
To explain how excited Pete was on their research trip Denise said, “everything Pete saw he was going oh, my god. Everything was new to him. It was really exciting. The enthusiasm and his curiosity.” That enthusiasm completely came through as he was chatting with us.
“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo
(voice of Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. Opens Nov. 25 2015
