Last week I brought you Secrets from Set and an Interview with both Hayley Atwell and James D’Arcy. This week as we get ready for the next episode tonight I wanted to show you what happens on set. I love going on set to both tv shows and movies. It helps you delve further into that imaginary world. The books or papers on the desk. Paintings or art hung up in places. All of this is considered “color” So Let’s get to out Photo Story.
With this season set in LA the set from last year has changed a bit. You can even see bits of the LA sunshine through the windows! Overall a different look, but still incorporates that MARVEL feel that we love. PLUS, I was able to sit behind the iconic desk. So technically I was in charge for like 3 seconds. Those 3 seconds were pretty cool if I do say so myself.
We also were able to chat with Gigi Melton who is the costume designer for the show and who famously came up with the iconic red hat for the show. She said her team usually has 12-14 hours for a look for a scene. The particular piece has to have multiples made. 1 for stunt doubles, 1 for damages, and a “Hero” version. Crazy cool, right?!
More about the hat: The Aviatrix is a reissue of a ladies classic Stetson. It featured a multicolored grosgrain ribbon, teardrop crease, logo coin pin, and was made out of wool. It was manufactured in the 1940s. In fact, Gigig said, ““The script said, ‘She was walking in a sea of gray hats,’ so ultimately I knew she had to be equal power, and I wanted her to be in a fedora right of the bat because she needed to be equal.” Now everyone can have an Agent Carter hat. Just go check out The Aviatrix over at Stetson.
And with that I’ll say goodybye to the set. Who is watching in tonight?!
