Zootopia zooms into theaters on March 4, 2016 and you should go grab your tickets in advanced! Why? I’ve seen the film twice now and literally laughed my tush off. What is so great about Zootopia? Here’s a list of my top 5 reasons to watch it:
1: Levels within Levels
There are so many levels to this film. Super young kids will laugh at the slowness of the sloths. Teens will laugh for a different reason. Adults will get the whole DMV and how it takes forever tie in. That’s just the one scene. The ENTIRE movie is like that. Themes within themes and jokes within jokes.
2: MUCH more than anticipated
I was expecting a cute little film with a heart. Zootopia is SO much more. The cast is amazing and the animation is top notch. I love it when an animated film surprises me and is even better than what I was expecting.
3: It Goes There
In today world we are dealing with bullying, xenophobia, racism, and more and Zootopia GOES there. It’s a great film to use as a tool as a parent. We can watch the film and enjoy it, but also have it as a lead in to more serious topics. For all ages.
4: Did I Mention Funny
Because I can’t stress how funny it is. I was sitting by a friend during the first screening and he turned after and was like, “Kas I’ve never heard you laugh so much during a screening.” I laughed at the jokes aimed for kids and laughed even harder at the adult jokes. Without giving away spoilers there is even a Breaking Bad tie in that you will only catch if you are a huge Breaking Bad fan. Super funny film.
5: The Rewatch Factor
As we all know if our children like something we must endure the “rewatch” till we can recite every line and every song by heart…in advance…in our sleep, etc. I’ve seen this film twice and am already planning my next rewatch and this is BEFORE my kids have seen it. So bring on the rewatch. I’m ready to set it on repeat.
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a
place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But
when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a
police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,”“Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.
