Everyone needs to make these easy Groot gift bags for their Guardians of the Galaxy themed party or for taking them to the theater! This is also a fairly inexpensive alternative to store bought gift bags. I was able to buy the supplies for less than $5! I made more than enough for the party and have tons of supplies left over for the next project.
Start by cutting 4 – 1 inch slits about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the bag. Make sure you push hard to get all the way through both sides of the bag. You can just eyeball the spacing between the slits.
Scrunch the tulle a bit and start weaving it through the slits you made on one side of the bag. I lifted the outer flap to have it go inside the crease and then end in the other crease. Flip the bag over and repeat. Once you have it all woven in, tie the ends together.
Now you get to channel your inner artist and draw Groot’s face. Luckily, it’s almost easier than a smiley face! 2 eyes the size of dimes spaced widely apart with a long line for the mouth. Not much to it! If you feel extra creative, go ahead and lightly draw some random lines up and down the bag on both sides to mimic Groot’s bark.
Once you have your gift bags finished, fill them with whatever goodies you like!! I may even take one bag and put my lunch in it!
