What is Summer of Heroes
It’s a blockbuster season of heroic encounters! From favorite Super Heroes to a thrilling new attraction, it’s time to Hero Up at Disney California Adventure Park now through September 10, 2017.
#1. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
Meet Taneleer Tivan—a.k.a. The Collector, keeper of the largest assemblage of fauna, relics and species from across the cosmos.
His unique collection can normally be found on the mining planet known as Knowhere… but now, he’s bringing it all to Disney California Adventure Park for a special exhibition featuring his latest prize possessions: The Guardians of the Galaxy themselves!
As you make your way toward The Collector’s towering citadel, plants and trees from all over the known universe surround you, dubbed by Taneleer as the “Gardens of the Galaxy.” Before long, you’ll find yourself inside, in the presence of interstellar artifacts and creatures—including the Guardians of the Galaxy, held captive in glass cases high atop the fortress and dangling over an ominous abyss!
Personally, I think one of the areas Disney excels the most in is their queue lines. They are epic. So many details and Easter eggs. You definitely won’t be getting bored while standing in line for Mission Breakout. The Collector’s Fortress is massive and full of cool trinkets he has gathered from across the galaxy. Also, it goes by pretty fast. Which is always nice.
After commandeering a gantry lift, you’ll join Rocket—recently escaped from his case—on a harrowing mission to rescue his fellow Guardians… but not before unleashing intergalactic mayhem in the process, from the top of the fortress to the bottom, and all to the tune of one of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtape songs!
Showcasing all-new special effects, appearances by popular characters, music inspired by the soundtracks from the films, and “big thrill” drop sequences with a free-fall sensation that’ll have you screaming for more, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss.
If you liked Tower of Terror you will love this ride. In my opinion it’s faster and the thrills have been upped a notch. I kept my hands in the air as I was screaming and my heart was pumping with adrenaline. I would ride this over and over and I know my kids can’t wait to check it out!
#2. Super Hero Encounters
For the first time, citizens of Earth will come face-to-face with Groot, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy! You can also step up to meet the First Avenger, Captain America, along with everyone’s favorite web slinger, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
I did not get to grab a picture with Groot this trip, but I did meet Captain America! He was just hanging out taking pictures with everyone. Probably taking a break from saving the world. You know how it is, super hero business and all that.
I’m glad they finally have more from MARVEL at the theme parks now. It helps tie everything together, plus, I was able to see a few kiddos faces lighting up at getting to meet their heroes. It’s a win for sure!
#3. Special Themed Merchandise and Food
I’m a sucker for some cool new Merch or a themed food. I wanted a spiderman donut, but apparently they sell out of those and the Groot bread fairly quickly. I was going to get some Groot Bread, but I think I would feel guilty…eating his face and all. Mega cool though. If I was a kid I would probably snap up Captain America’s shield and go about the park saving the day. Like I said superhero business.
As you can see there is a lot of fun to be had over at California Adventure for Summer Of Heroes! Make sure you get a chance to see everything before September 10th!
