Cooking with my daughter Isabella is a great joy. I can honestly say she can now officially cook better than I can and I’m extremely proud of that fact. When I was growing up I could make a mean breakfast or some chicken nuggets, but with my mom working hard to take care of us as a single mom there was not a lot of time left for some training in the kitchen. I made a choice early on to do differently. She had wanted to “help” since she first got her Dora The Explorer kitchen way back when. Now, some nights, she finds a recipe and cooks everything herself. It’s that joy of cooking that Uncle Ben’s is here to bring back!
About The Ben’s Beginners Program
Healthier futures begin when kids learn how to cook. Uncle Ben’s is on a mission to get kids to cook through their Ben’s Beginners program.
- Measurements, Math & Time: Recipes are filled with fractions, timing, weights, and measurements.
Science: Cooking is all about reactions that happen when ingredients come together in a delicious way.
- Creativity: Kids learn to think about the creativity that goes into the recipe.
Reading: Recipes are fun to read and they teach kids new words.
The thing is, it doesn’t even need to be a super intensive recipe. For example, last night we just had steak, rice, and tomatoes for garnish. With Uncle Ben’s Butter & Garlic rice we had dinner on the table in less than 15 minutes, but we had fun, chatted about our day, and just had good quality time together.
Take a moment and check out the Ben’s Beginners program and see how you can bring the family closer together at dinner time!
